FILMOHIB |
|
FILMOHIB is a specialty product evolved for eliminating the corrosion
in the total Boiler System, viz. the Boiler, steam lines and the
condensate return lines to the boiler feed-water storage. Filmohib is
multi-component blend of organic components consisting of a long-chain
aliphatic amine together with essential dispersing and neutralizing
amines. |
|
Filmohib is a white to cream colored, easily pourable emulsion. |
|
Filmohib gives total protection to the boiler, steam and condensate
lines. The unique merit of the product is that it coats the surface of
metal with a continuous, densely packed monomolecular film of the long
chain amine, allowing no room for the attack of the
metal surface by oxygen and carbon dioxide contained in the steam from
the boiler. |
|
Method of feeding |
|
It is recommended that a dispersion of
filmohib, say 1 to 2% in condensate water is added to the feed
water tank thro' a suitable pumping system, drip-feed as required
or alternatively directly to the system header of the boiler. No
deposits form inside the boiler. Filmohib should not be added
along with other chemicals normally added in the boiler feed-water
tank. |
|
|
Areas of application |
|
Power stations, evaporators, dryers, stills, pans, heaters etc., where
steam is the heating medium. |
|
Dosage |
|
A
dosage of 7 to 10 ppm of Filmohib based on the quantum of steam
generated is recommended. The dosage can be decreased or increased if
required, based mainly on the quantity of make-up water for the boiler
feed. |
|
Filmohib does not deposit on boiler surfaces. It forms films in the
steam and condensate lines only. Occasionally the gauge glasses get
deposited with a foggy film and this can be easily cleaned with
kerosene. |
|
Filmohib is stable up to 85 kgs/cm2 and a temperature of 540oC. |
|
While starting to use Filmohib, it is advisable to start with a low
dosage, say, of 3 to 4 ppm and increase gradually over 3 or 4 days, as
otherwise, existing deposits of "Corrosion-Deposits" may get dislodged
fairly fast leading to blockages. |
|
The protective coat of filming amine builds up gradually and once
fully formed, continues to give protection for a week at least even if
dosing is interrupted. |
|
To
sum up, Filmohib is an ideal and balanced blend of organic compounds,
the long chain amine forming a gapless hydrophobic protective coating
on the internal surface of pipe lines preventing totally any attack by
oxygen and the neutralizing/dispersing amines neutralize the carbon
dioxide effectively giving total protection from corrosion. |
|
Storage |
|
Normal storage in covered sheds, away from acids and oxidising agents. |
|
Handling |
|
Normal protective gloves and eye-shields should be used. Avoid eye and
skin contact. Irrigate with plenty of water affected areas of
skin/eye. |
